Texas Voter ID Law

On September 3, 2014 Texas Public Radio publish an article titled Texas Voter ID Law To Trial. The article first stated that in 2011 Texas required voters to show proof of ID which was needed to prevent voter fraud. But in 2012 the federal court in Washington D.C. ruled against the state because Texas was unable to show that it will not be decimated against blacks and Latinos. Shortly after in 2013 Texas officials decided they will start using the ID requirements. This law brings the issue that it decimates blacks and Latinos voters, because they are less luckily to not have a valid photo ID. This issue affects voters who are willing to vote but don't have a valid ID. But it is said that this law is needed to install confidence in the electoral system in the upcoming election and many more. I chose this article because I think it has some type of affect for voters and being able to get there point across by voting, especially since there is an election coming up soon. I personally do think it a good idea to have IDs required when it comes to voting but I also think there should be some type of system that helps people to be able to vote if they don't have a valid ID.
