Are Single-Use carryout bags safe?

Ms. Tran's article titled "Safty First!" very interested and informing. I agree with the article when it stated that single-use carryout bag I never knew how of the potential hazard reduce the number of thin plastic bags that harm our environment and may end up in landfills that may take years to decompose. I know in Austin and several other store don't use plastic bags anymore. I believe that's something great and a positive movement. But I did not know the potential hazard of cross contamination it may having well use Single-Use Carryout Bags. The article was very informing and lets the readers know that reusable bags can lead to contamination and sickness if people neglect to wash or clean there bags properly. These article was very helpful because I never knew we are suppose to clean the bags. It was very interested to know that once San Francisco's' ban on plastic bags that it led to an increase in bacterial food-illness and death. I strongly agree the people should be aware of these hazards and proper care should be printed on bags so that buyers are more inform in how to use it. I believe promoting less plastic bags was more encourage then inform others of the use of single-use carryout bags. My colleague Ms. Tran explained the article, stated the problem and lastly gave her thought and opinion that there should be visible display on the bags to inform others about the hazard that comes when using these bags. I encourage people to read this article to inform others and spread the word.

Students who made online threats

A mother of a Tippit Middle School student is very upset in how police are handling her son's cases. After posts on social media indicated her 14-year old son will be framed for murder of a student. According to School districts leaders, a group of students made several of post on Instgram, saying they will kill two students and frame another one for the murder. The mother of the 14 year old is shock about the situation. Some of the things that were mentioned in the post were the supplies needed for the crime and also writing in a post saying " Okay, we're gonna need a pack of zip ties, a slinky, a comb, like a prison comb… and some bleach." After Georgetown police officers got involved and spoke to the individuals, they were very apologetic and they didn't mean it to be taken seriously.

The mother of who's sons was going to be framed is wants to peruse of and press charges for those that were involved. She believes if nothing is being done students may think its okay to this and get away with it without any consequences involved. The three students involved were suspended from school and given community services. They are waiting to hear if these threats will land them in legal criminal charges. Since theses threats were made online it makes it difficult to decided what to do. On December 10, 2014 KVUE News just released an article titled "Students who made online threats will not face charges" Georgetown police Department and the School District said "the facts presented did not support a finding of probable cause to file criminal charges... but they will continue to motor the situation " The three students will not be charged for the threats that they made online.

I believe something should be done, there are many cases were students get bullied, picked on, etc. and nothing gets done because these are threats being made online. Sadly, in some cases young children get tired of being picked on and end there lives. Online threats should be taken more seriously and something new needs to be done in order to prevent this from happening again.

Warrant needed to draw blood in DWI cases

Just a week ago my fox Austin news released the article with breaking news on possible warrants needed to draw blood in DWI cases. The states highest criminal court ruled Wednesday that drawing the blood of an uncooperative drunken driving suspect in Texas without a search warrant is unconstitutional.
The appeals court decision is backed by a 2013 ruling in which the U.S. Supreme court announced that officers most of the time attempt for a search warrant from a judge before ordering blood test for accused drunken driving suspects. The Texas court replied by announcing a non consensual  search of a DWI suspect's blood conducted without a warrant or exception to the warrant requirement, is in violation with the Fourth Amendment. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable search and seizure.
State laws provide exceptions to law enforcement to obtain blood samples including if there was an accident in which a person was killed or injured.
I disagree with Texas court of criminal appeals. I believe that law enforcement should not need a search warrant for blood samples. The use of this procedure is to insure the safety of people on the road. People who decide to drink then attempt to operate a vehicle know before they step in the vehicle all the risks that can happen while intoxicated and driving, and being pulled over and being checked out by law enforcement is the risk they take with their actions.
If search warrants are approved and take effect there are going to be many more drunk drivers being allowed to stay on the streets due to the strict exceptions that have to be made just to get a blood sample.
I understand the people that are being charged feel like their rights are being violated, but in order to protect millions of people on the roads that could be families or grandparents or young kids, people who decide to drink then drive should think twice about what choices they make.

Dram Shop Act

I found it very interesting and informative the blog that Danny Cortez wrote about the "Dram Shop Act." I agree with Danny Cortez opinion that he stated in his blog. I believe bartenders jobs includes making sure there customers are being treated well and knowing when to stop serving them drinks. Serves are trained to make sure they are giving the best customer server to their customers but there are some obsessive clues when you know someone had to much drink. As a young adult we should know what are limits are when it comes to drinking and a bartender shouldn't be put to blame, lost their certification or received fines for the mistake of someone else's. As an adults we should take responsible for our own actions and suffer the consequences that comes along with. If you know your going to be drinking you need to either find a designated driver or just have a drink or two and that's it. I know weekends may get busy but hopefully some bartenders can notice those who are in toxic and stop serving drinks. People drinking know what their limit are when it comes to drinking. Placing the blame on a bartender because you couldn't control your self and that it would be fun to drink and drive is just ridiculous to me. As an adult you knew what you were doing and getting yourself into when you know you had enough to drink and can't even focus or function probably.

Wendy Davis Ad.

Rick Perry vs. The World Texas blog of Monday, October 10, 2014 carries a blog written by Evan with the heading Wendy Davis is a Karl Rove plant. The blog begins with comparing Karl Rove who is an American Republican political consultant and policy advisor, and Wendy Davis who is a canidate running for governor in Texas. The author expresses his beliefs by saying Wendy Davis is being orchastrated by Karl Rove in her candidacy. The author explains how Davis has sucked money out of competitive districts and how Davis is the worst possible candidate imaginable to win latino swing votes. Author explains how Davis will most likely get the Latinos who are strongly identified as Democrats but in the end will certainly not drive turnout from disaffected democrats. Due to her primary loss in south Texas counties. And how she couldn't even get Latinos to vote for her over a no-name in the primary. Author Evan ends his blog with how bad Davis's wheelchair ad was not only ridiculous but also destroyed any chance Leticia Van de Putte had of getting traction. Karl Rove was know for False information and avoiding important debates, and author Evan is point is to show how Wendy Davis is candidany portrays Karl Rove. Evans main audience is people for Wendy Davis, so he can open their eyes to her flaws as a runner up for governor. Author Evans is a graduate from rice University who has been writer and blogger for years.

Truancy plan can reduce prison flow

On Friday, September 19, 2014, the San Antonio Express News published an article titled Truancy plan could reduce prison flow. School districts in Bexar County are trying to lead students in the right path to graduate, by minimizing school districts' loss of state attendance funding. Bexar County tries on these new strategies while other Texas schools witness how this will play out. One great outcome this plan can provide is by giving students another chance in having a clean record and good resumes so they can start their adults lives in the right path instead of having a small mistake they once did in high school affect them in their near future. Truant students will still face disciplinary measures if they don't take this serious. This process is not free and parent involvement can lead to success for this plan. In order to be in this plan the student and their parents will have to sign formal agreements. This plan is also beneficial to the state and parents because it can be expensive and time-consuming coming to court for missing school. Rey Saldana, who develop the plan feels that this can help reduce the number of students who end up in prison with widespread support. I personally think this is a great opportunity for students to have a second chance in going through the right path in finishing high school. I don't think by making some bad choices such as skipping class should affect someones goals that they may have in the future. The only concern I have is students taking advantage of this plan, I believe there should be consequences for those who do break this plan. I think as a teenager we do things for fun and don't really take things serious or see how some of our mistake can have consequences. I can personally say I view things much differently now then when I was in high school. I take things more serious and am more aware of my actions. Hopefully this plan can have a positive impact and eventually have other school be part of this as well.

Texas Voter ID Law

On September 3, 2014 Texas Public Radio publish an article titled Texas Voter ID Law To Trial. The article first stated that in 2011 Texas required voters to show proof of ID which was needed to prevent voter fraud. But in 2012 the federal court in Washington D.C. ruled against the state because Texas was unable to show that it will not be decimated against blacks and Latinos. Shortly after in 2013 Texas officials decided they will start using the ID requirements. This law brings the issue that it decimates blacks and Latinos voters, because they are less luckily to not have a valid photo ID. This issue affects voters who are willing to vote but don't have a valid ID. But it is said that this law is needed to install confidence in the electoral system in the upcoming election and many more. I chose this article because I think it has some type of affect for voters and being able to get there point across by voting, especially since there is an election coming up soon. I personally do think it a good idea to have IDs required when it comes to voting but I also think there should be some type of system that helps people to be able to vote if they don't have a valid ID.
